The
Vision
This
is a unique legacy that originated in
1981, in the Department of Psychology, Mahatma
Gandhi College, Trivandrum, Kerala, India.
Establishing the College in 1948, dedicated to
the cherished memory of the Father of the
Nation, the Founder, Sri. Mannathu
Padmanabhan, proclaimed: It is only through
education that we can realize true freedom (Saa
vidya ya vimukthaye).
… Freedom, not only from dark
ignorance, or miserable poverty, but also from
vain egoism, petty selfishness, and parochial
prejudices.
...
Education is not simply imparting of knowledge; it is shaping of character as well. Character comprising of
courage, conscience & commitment.
It
is this awareness (prajna) that has
been kindled in us, the 400 odd graduates who have come out of the Department of Psychology
during the last two decades. We have made our
presence felt in every walk of our society,
keeping our legacy in tact.
T h e M i s s i o n
While
sharing this vision, we are committed to
extend a helping hand to each other, when in
need, by keeping in regular touch with each
other, and also imbibing this spirit of
togetherness in the new generations to come.
We have chalked out a four-point action plan
to realize this goal.
1.
To bring out a directory of prajna,
locating the
whereabouts of all the members,
which will be updated regularly.
2.
Celebrate annual days on the first
Sunday of January, every year, to strengthen
the feelings and to welcome new members into
our fold.
3.
To establish a placement cell to extend
placement support to those members in need of
such help.
4.
To maintain a website which will be a
‘virtual meeting point’
for the members of
this exclusive community.
